SRC in Action

The BCLA is pleased to announce the theme for the 2009 Kids Summer Reading Club:

This year's illustrator is Scot Ritchie. He is a Vancouver-based independent illustrator. Scot is an award winning illustrator who has been drawing ever since he could hold a crayon. These days he works digitally and has been hired by editors and art directors from around the world. His children's books have been translated into Korean, Dutch, French and Polish. To date Scot has illustrated 42 books and is now an author with the release of Up Up and Away and soon to be released Follow that Map. His book Let's Go (written by Lizann Flatt and illustrated by Scot) was recently selected by the Canadian Children's Book Centre as the book to be given to every grade 1 student across Canada.

Materials will include reading record; stickers; poster; bookmarks; completion medals; children's website with literacy game; as well as novelty items and a librarian's programme manual. Use the links at the left to see a preview of the reading record design & artwork.

Sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association and your local public library with the assistance of the
Public Library Services Branch, Ministry of Education, Shirley Bond, Minister.
